LBMS GIRLS FALL TO MIDWAY
In the Broncos home opener, Lake could not come away with a win. All four teams fell to Midway.
The Bronco 8B squad faced a fast and furious Midway team. We matched up well in the first quarter. Aiyanna Rountree was high point with three points for the Broncos. Midway would take the game by a score of 30-6.
The Lake Belton Middle School 8A basketball team faced a determined and aggressive Midway squad in a challenging matchup. Despite a strong effort from the Broncos, Midway capitalized on their speed and transition play, leading to a final score of 56-13 in favor of Midway.
Charlie Williams stood out as the player of the game, contributing 7 of the team’s 13 points and dominating on defensive rebounds. Her performance showcased determination and leadership on the court.
While the outcome wasn’t in Lake Belton’s favor, the team demonstrated resilience and continues to build on their skills for the season ahead.
In the 7th grade A game Midway was everywhere on the court and the Broncos just couldn't get things going. Midway jumped out to a big lead and built on it throughout the game. Torrie Monroe-Peterson and Caitlin Stringer would score the only points of the game for the Broncos with 4 and 2 respectively. The girls fought all game, but were unable to keep up to Midway's speed.
The 7th grade B team came out scoring first and kept the game close during the 1st quarter. Midway began to pull away during the 2nd quarter and throughout the second half and the Broncos were not able to close the gap. Callie Jacobs would lead the team in scoring with 5 points followed by Annabelle Gonzales, Emily Matell, and Kylie Baker who each had 2 points a piece.
The girls will have an off week in district play, but will travel to Georgetown on Friday in Saturday to compete in the Georgetown Middle School Tournament.
