Lake Belton Red Triumphs Over South Belton in a Thrilling 19-6 Victory In a heated local matchup, Lake Belton Red showcased their skills in a dominant performance against South Belton, winning with a score of 19-6. The game, held at the Belton High sports field, saw both teams come out with high energy, but Lake Belton Red's sharp offense and strong defense proved to be too much for South Belton. From the opening whistle, Lake Belton Red controlled the pace of the game, with their quarterback Connor Krueger connecting on key passes to the running back, Joel Ihekoronye who breaking through the South Belton defense for substantial gains. The first half was highlighted by two impressive touchdown drives, giving Lake Belton Red a solid 13-6 lead at halftime. In the second half, Lake Belton Red's defense took center stage, led by Jacob Chin, Landry Dupree and Mateo Vela-Rios, shutting down South Belton's attempts to rally. Despite South Belton's efforts to claw back into the game, they struggled to gain any significant ground against the relentless pressure from the Lake Belton defense. A final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a spectacular run by Joel Ihekoronye, sealed the 19-6 victory for Lake Belton Red, leaving South Belton scoreless and frustrated in the second half. It was a comprehensive performance by Lake Belton, signaling their readiness to contend for future victories. The win was a collective team effort, with standout performances across the board. The rivalry game was marked by big plays and physicality, with both teams leaving everything on the field. The Tigers came out strong, playing a physical brand of football that kept the Broncos on their toes. However, Lake Belton’s offense found its rhythm in the second quarter when quarterback Harrison Fryar connected with wide receiver Blaine Johnson for a crucial touchdown pass. The score ignited the Broncos, giving them a 8-0 lead and swinging the momentum in their favor. The game’s turning point came on the final play of the first half. With time running out, Harrison Fryar launched a deep pass to Ke'andre Bradley, who sprinted past the Tigers' secondary for a long touchdown, pushing the Broncos’ lead to 14-0 as they headed into halftime. In the second half, the Tigers showed resilience, mounting a comeback effort.
