This weekend the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams competed in the BISD middle school tournament at Lake Belton High School and Belton High School. All four teams made it to the championship games. The 7th grade Bronco A team played for the tournament championship on Saturday after winning their first 2 games against Carver and South Belton. The Broncos beat Carver in 2 sets, 25-7, 25-5. The Broncos would take down the Tigers again in a spirited game, 25-14, 20-25, and 16-14. The Lake Broncos would face the North Broncos for the championship game and would battle to a 3 set victory 25-23, 14-25, and 15-11! Congratulations Lake! The 7B team played Lamar first and defeated them in 2 sets and then took down South in 2 sets to move onto the Championship match against North. Unfortunately, North came away with the win in 2 sets 25-23 and 25-20. Lake would take 2nd place. The 8B team would take on Lamar in the first match and won in 2 sets 25-13 and 25-2. They would then take on South and win easily in 2 sets 25-3 and 25-9. Lake would face Bonham in the championship match and would win in 2 sets to win the tournament 25-17 and 25-20. 8A, unfortunately, won their first match by forfeit since their opponent did not show on time to the tournament. That would move them into the semi-final match against South in which they would win in 2 sets 25-14 and 25-9. The championship game would be another Lake and North showdown that went back and forth the entire match. North won the first set and Lake won the second. Which forced a third and final set. North ended up winning the third set in a close battle 15-13.
