LBMS 8TH GRADE FOOTBALL RESULTS VS BONHAM
Broncos Rally Late to Defeat Bonham 20-14
In a gritty matchup, the Broncos overcame a shaky start to secure a hard-fought 20-14 victory over the Bonham Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Quarterback Athan Reyna and running back Braxton Bronson delivered standout performances, leading their team to a crucial win that revealed glimpses of the Broncos’ potential for the future.
The Broncos struggled early, with offensive miscues and penalties stalling their progress in the first quarter. However, after settling down, quarterback Athan Reyna ignited a spark with a key touchdown run, showcasing his dual-threat ability and giving the Broncos the spark they needed. Reyna's poise in the pocket and willingness to use his legs proved critical as the game wore on.
Running back Braxton Bronson then took center stage, bulldozing through the Bonham defense for two touchdowns. Bronson’s bruising style was on full display, as he repeatedly broke through would-be tacklers and kept drives alive. His determination and toughness in the run game wore down Bonham's defense, especially late in the game when the Broncos needed to control the clock.
On defense, Alex Carter was a force to be reckoned with along the defensive line. He consistently disrupted Bonham’s backfield, applying pressure on the quarterback and plugging gaps to shut down their running attack. Carter’s presence helped turn the tide after the Broncos' slow start.
Meanwhile, cornerback Kayden Bridges locked down Bonham’s top receivers, allowing very few completions in his direction. His tight coverage forced Bonham to look elsewhere, limiting their offensive options and helping the Broncos defense hold firm in crucial moments.
Despite Bonham’s late rally to close the gap, the Broncos’ defense stood tall, making key stops down the stretch to preserve the 20-14 lead. The victory wasn’t perfect, but it was a testament to the team’s resilience and ability to perform when it mattered most.
As the Broncos continue to iron out their early-game issues, the flashes of brilliance they displayed in this contest offer a promising glimpse of what the future could hold for this rising squad.
