The Lake Belton Broncos 7th grade silver and red team traveled to Lake Belton High School to take on South Belton Middle School. Lake would split games with South. In the silver teams’ game, Lake would get off to a slow against the Tigers. The Bronco would apply some needed defensive pressure against the Tigers which would lead to Lake first half lead Lake 20 and South 13. In the third quarter of play Lake would see their lead fall apart. The Broncos would have only a three-point lead at the end of the third quarter. In the final period of play Lake would trail the Tigers 33 to 32 with 17 seconds to go in the game Jaiden Gomez would come up big with a three-point shot from the corner to give the Bronco a 35 to 33 lead. With 7 seconds remaining the Broncos defense held on to the win. Lake 35 – South 33. Defensively the team played extremely well as a group to help the Lake Broncos secure the win. Tristan Cannady: 2 pts Red Team Results: The game was hard fought in the second half of play, In the first half the Bronco’s trailed the Tigers 13 to 5. In the second half Lake would find it hard to score in the third quarter only managing to score 1 point in the quarter. The Broncos never quit scoring 16 points in fourth and final quarter but it was a little to late as the Tigers would hold on to the win.
