LAKE 7B DEFEATS NORTH IN THE BATTLE OF THE BRONCOS
In the 7A game, Lake started off scoring the first points to get the first lead of the game, but were unable to keep it going. Lake was fell behind in the first quarter 6-12 and couldn't bounce back. North would win 19-40. Lexi Walker would lead the team in scoring with 8 points. Elizah O'bannon and Presley Pilkington both scored 4 points a piece followed by Charli Williams with 2 points.
Our 7B Lake Broncos took on the Broncos of North last night and showed up to show out to win 21-11! The entire team played pretty solid running the floor during transition, staying disciplined on defense, and putting themselves in position for rebounds. I'm most proud of the little things we've been working on in practice being translated in the game. Our top scorer last night was Samiyah Lemus with 7 points, Savannah Long and Jadyn Martin not far behind with 6 points, and Keira Dzenowski with 2. Tatum Hobson did well applying pressure on the ball and Jordyn Landry did well defending their post and helping on drives to the basket. Great game for all!
The battle of the Bronco brought out many cheering fans. Lake Belton 8B Broncos were nervous and excited. We didn't have all our players so a few of the girls would have to gut it out and play the whole game. The Broncos of North were ready and came out running the floor. Also their defense and press would not allow our offense to put up many shots. Lake hustled all game, but just could not catch up with the Broncos of North Belton. The final score was 9-33 with North Belton as the winners. Courtney Anderson was defensive player of the game and Raija Christianson had 3 points on offense and Bella Smith-Bisceglia had 4. Courtney Anderson was player of the game.
In a fierce rivalry match between Lake Belton Middle School's girls 8A team and North Belton Middle School, Lake Belton held tight to North at the end of the first half, trailing by just one point (11-12). However, in the second half, it became evident that Lake Belton struggled to maintain the intensity against North's relentless press and fast breaks, fueled by their talented team. The final score saw North emerge victorious with a score of 32-18. Alayna Fulton emerged as Lake Belton's leading scorer, contributing 7 points to the team's effort. On the defensive end, Coby Dodd displayed unwavering effort and determination throughout the matchup.
Lake will play their last game of the season on Monday at South Belton and then will compete in the district tournament on Saturday, February 17th.
