LAKE GIRLS FALL TO MIDWAY
The Lake Belton Middle School girls took on the Midway Panthers last night. Unfortunately, the Broncos were unable to come away with a win.
The 7th grade A team took their first district loss of the year to a very talented Midway team. Lake just couldn't seem to keep up with the speed and accurate shooting from their opponent and lost by a score of 13-60. Lexi Walker led the team in scoring with 6 points followed by Elsa Hayes, Charli Williams, and Elizah O'Banon with 2 points a piece. Areanna Long played well on the defensive side grabbing several rebounds.
Wow, what a very competitive and exciting 4 quarters Bronco 7B vs. Midway was last night! Although the final score did not end in our favor I could not be more proud of the disciplined basketball and improved skills across the entire team. Being tied at halftime and hitting a little slump in the 3rd quarter, we came back strong at the beginning of the 4th to close the score gap 12-18... however, Midway handled the pressure at the end a little better and maximized opportunities on the freethrow line to end the game 12-23. Again, I still could not be more proud as they even got compliments for "keeping them on their toes" by Midway's coach. Our player of the game was Jadyn Martin as she scored the most offensively and was a key player in our defense the entire game.
After a month of no games for the 8th grade B team, they came out ready to play against a speedy Midway team. The first half would pass quickly, but the Broncos held their own and worked hard to stay up with the Panthers. Unfortunately, the 3rd quarter would be all Midway as they scored 10 points and the Broncos would only score 2. The Broncos outscored the Panthers in the 4th quarter, but it would not be enough. Soraya Siller was high point for the Broncos with 4 points, Bella Smith-Bisceglia had 3 points. Audrey Hitt played great defense and Soraya was named player of the game for the Broncos.
Lake Belton Middle 8A girls and Midway Middle game was a closely contested matchup, with both teams demonstrating skill and determination on the court. Despite the final score favoring Midway Middle at 28-25, it's evident that Lake Belton Middle put up a strong fight throughout the game. Alaysha Williams contribution as the top scorer with 9 points highlights her offensive prowess and ability to make crucial plays when needed. Her performance likely kept Lake Belton competitive until the very end. Aralina Acosta's impact on the defensive end speaks volumes about her skill and dedication to the team. A strong defensive presence is vital in any game, and Acosta's contributions likely helped keep the score close and the team in contention for the win.
