Lake Girls Sweep SC Lee

LAKE GIRLS SWEEP SC LEE

The LBMS girls basketball teams took on SC Lee after a 3 week break. All three teams came away with victories. The Lake Belton Middle School 8A girls set the court ablaze in their first home game of the season at Lake Belton High School, showcasing skill, teamwork, and unwavering determination against SC Lee. The game unfolded as a masterclass in dominance, with the Lake Belton girls securing an impressive victory of 53-3. Leading the charge for Lake Belton, Ayaana Omisola proved to be a force to be reckoned with, finishing the night with an astounding 23 points. Her offensive prowess set the tone for the entire team, showcasing not only her scoring ability but also her strategic play making on the court. Madison Strickland also left her mark on the scoreboard with an impressive 12 points, securing her first double-digit game of the season. In recognition of her stellar offensive performance, Madison Strickland earned the title of Offensive Player of the Game. Strickland's tenacity, precise shooting, and strategic plays were instrumental in Lake Belton's commanding victory. Coby Dodd's aggressive play on the defensive end did not go unnoticed. Dodd's tenacity, quick reflexes, and ability to disrupt the opposing team's offense earned her the title of Defensive Player of the Game. Beyond individual accolades, the Lake Belton Middle School 8A girls demonstrated seamless teamwork, executing plays with precision, and maintaining a stifling defense throughout the game. The collective effort on both ends of the court was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team. The 7th grade A team had a thrilling game that went into overtime. The Broncos took the lead in the first half 13-6, but struggled to take care of the ball and score in the second half which resulted in a time game at the end of regulation 23-23. Lake completely controlled the 3 minuet overtime period and out scored Lee 9-1 ending the game with a 32-24 win. Lexi Walker lead the team in scoring with 8 points followed by Carley Frosch with 6, 5 of those coming in the overtime period. Elizah O'Banon also scored 6 points. Rounding out the scoring was Presley Pilkington and Charli Williams with 4 points a piece, and Brynlie Wurts and Lexi White with 2 points each. Lake 7A remains undefeated in district play with a 5-0 record. As we finally got to play at home and after a long Christmas break, our 7B Broncos came out with excitement and so much energy to get back to competing. We did not finish as well as normal around the basket, but our aggression for rebounds offensively gave us plenty of opportunities to hold our own to score 12 points. Defensively we came out just as aggressive holding SC Lee to 4 points. The team shared the love offensively as we had many scorers... Samiyah Lemus and Savannah Long each had 3 points, and Keira Dzenowski, Isabella Neels, and Jordyn Landry had 2. Defensively, Keira Dzenowski was a stand out last night. Very proud of all the girls!!!
