LBMS GIRLS EARN THREE WINS OVER COVE
Last night the Lake Belton girls took on Copperas Cove and came away victorious in 3 out of 4 games.
The 7A team came away with another dominating win 34-2. The Broncos started out slow only scoring 8 points in the first quarter, but came alive in the second quarter scoring 12 points and taking an 18 point lead going into the half. They continued to add to their lead in the second half and shut out the Bullpups. Lexi Walker led the team in scoring with 9 points on the night and had several steals. Charli Williams was close behind in scoring with 8 points followed by Areanna Long with 7 and Presley Pilkington with 6. Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were Elsa Hayes and Carley Frosch with 2 points a piece.
Last night Bronco 7B girls basketball closed out the year with another win against Cove 21-12 to remain undefeated in district play! A scrappy game to say the least, but we took control of the ball at the most opportune times. Defensively, I am proud of our consistent pressure throughout the game to force turnovers to get easy baskets and draw fouls toward the end of the game. Our top defensive player was Whitley Truett. Our top offensive players were Isabella Neels, Jordyn Landry, Whitley Truett, and Savannah Long.
The 8th grade B team entered the Christmas break on a high note. The Broncos fought hard against the Copperas Cove Bullpups and came away with the 13-9 victory. The game was was filled with fast breaks and free throws. The Lake defense stepped up and got the job done to seal the win. Defensive players of the game were Ella Chamberlin and Audrey Fisk. High point scorers was Jewels Wright with 7 points and Courtney Anderson with 6 points. Congratulations and great job Broncos.
8A Lake Belton Girls Basketball team had a challenging game against Copperas Cove Jr. High. The sound and physical team of Copperas Cove overwhelmed our girls, giving the team the second district loss of the season. Our offensive player of the game Avery Reinhardt and Catalina Esquivel played a significant role in trying to thwart Copperas Cove's talented offense with her defensive efforts.
