THE 7TH GRADE BOYS SWEEP BONHAM
In Wednesday night’s basketball action at Lake Belton High School, The Lake Belton Bronco 7th grade Red team and Silver played host to the Bonham Bulldogs. The Red game was a good defensive battle with both teams rebounding and shooting well. The first quarter score was Lake 12 and Bonham 8. The second quarter saw the Broncos only make three baskets and the Bulldogs went on mini run, making the halftime score Broncos 18 and Bulldogs 17. Good defense was played by Briggs Robin, Andrew Mcguire and Michael Brooks-Davis. The top first half scorers were Carter Johnson and Michael Brooks-Davis each with 6 points.
The third quarter was all Broncos as they went on a 12 to 2 run out scoring the Bulldogs. Andrew McGuire, Heston Seideman, Jakobe Sisson Carter Johnson and Briggs Robin were the top defenders and scorers. At the end of the third quarter the score was Broncos 30 and Bonham Bulldogs 19.
In the third and fourth quarters, the Broncos erupted for 13 more points, putting the game out of reach of the Bulldogs. Briggs Robin, Carter Johnson, Charlie Valish and Michael Brooks-Davis were the top players. The final score was Broncos 43 and Bulldogs 27.
The leading scorers were Carter Johnson with 16, Michael Brooks-Davis 10, Jakobe Sisson, Andrew McGuire and Caleb Eckert with 4 points, Briggs Robin 3 points and Charlie Valish with 2 points.
In the silver game the Broncos got off to a great start against the Bonham Bulldogs. The broncos put on the pressure. Jumping out to a 17 to 8 first quarter lead. The second quarter the Broncos were out scored 8 to 6 to end the first half Broncos 23 the Bulldogs 16.
In the second half the Broncos would maintain their lead finishing the third quarter with a ten point lead. The bulldogs would put up a fight in the fourth knocking down three 3 pointer late in the game but it would not be enough. The Broncos would hold on to secure the win.
Final score: Lake 46 – Bonham 35
Leading Scorers: Kyson Fish 12 points, Tiger Maxwell 11 points, Jaiden Gomez 8 points, Grandon Taylor 7 points, and Carson Kukulski, Erick Harness, Jacob Sullivan and Braxton Bronson each had 2 points.
Lake Belton’s next game will be at home, LAKE BELTON HIGH SCHOOL, against Belton Middle School. The game is Wednesday 12/6/23 Game Times: 7A – 6:00pm and 7B – 7:00pm
