LBMS 7TH GRADE GAME RESULTS VS LAMAR
Broncos Edge Out Bearcats in Tuesday Night Thriller, 24-19
The Lake Belton Bronco 7th Grade Silver squad defended their home turf Tuesday night, securing a hard-fought 24-19 victory over the visiting Lamar Bearcats in an action-packed, back-and-forth contest.
First-Half Back-and-Forth
The Broncos wasted no time making their presence felt. On the opening drive of the game, Lake Belton broke free for a long touchdown run to strike first, taking an early 6-0 lead.
Defensive momentum picked up shortly after as the Bronco defense forced and recovered a Bearcat fumble. However, turnovers plagued both squads throughout the quarter. Lake Belton turned the ball back over on their next drive, and despite another strong stop by the defense, a second Bronco fumble gave Lamar prime field position with just 59 seconds remaining in the opening half.
The Bearcats capitalized on the short field, punching in a rushing touchdown with 17 seconds left to even the score at 6-6.
Refusing to let momentum slip away before the break, Lake Belton answered immediately. Executing a crisp 40-yard screen pass into pay dirt, the Broncos pulled back ahead 12-6 as time expired in the second quarter.
Second-Half Battle
Lake Belton received the kickoff to open the third quarter and orchestrated a sustained drive downfield. The offense capped off the march with a touchdown at the 3:38 mark, extending their lead to 18-6.
Lamar refused to go quietly, responding with a long scoring drive of their own to notch a touchdown with 4:26 left in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to 18-13.
The Broncos delivered an explosive single-play counterpunch on the very next drive, exploding down the field for a touchdown on first down to push the advantage to 24-13.
Lamar made one final push, driving down the field and scoring with 40 seconds remaining to close the gap to 24-19. However, Lake Belton held firm in the closing seconds to secure the hard-earned home victory.
