7th Silver Broncos vs Copperas Cove In a high-scoring, action-packed Monday showdown at home, the Lake Belton Broncos 7th Grade Silver Team fought hard against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs, ultimately falling 37-25 in a game filled with explosive offensive plays and continuous back-and-forth momentum. The Broncos kicked off to start the contest and immediately set a high-energy tone by recovering their own kickoff. Although Lake Belton put together strong early plays, a fumble turned the ball over to the Bulldawgs. Copperas Cove capitalized quickly, striking on a long passing touchdown to claim a 6-0 lead with 3:44 remaining in the first quarter. A second Bronco fumble on the ensuing drive gave Cove advantageous field position, but the Lake Belton defense stood tall to deliver a crucial stop. Back on offense, the Broncos ignited the home crowd on the very next play when their backfield exploded for a dramatic 96-yard touchdown run, locking the score at 6-6. Copperas Cove answered with a rushing touchdown to regain a 12-6 edge and extended their advantage before halftime with another long touchdown pass, heading into the locker room ahead 18-6. Lake Belton started the second half with fireworks, bringing the opening kickoff all the way back to the end zone. Though a block-in-the-back penalty negated the return, the Broncos refused to be denied, systematically driving downfield and punching the ball into the end zone with 6:48 left in the third quarter to close the gap to 18-12. The Bulldawgs responded with a scoring drive at the 3:45 mark to extend their lead to 25-12. Showing tremendous resilience, the Broncos answered just 44 seconds later with another long touchdown run at 3:01 in the third, narrowing the margin to 25-18. However, Copperas Cove immediately returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to stretch their lead back out to 18 points. In the fourth quarter, Cove’s defense held firm, leading to another touchdown drive that pushed the score to 37-18 with 3:43 remaining. Lake Belton continued to battle until the final whistle, mounting one last drive capped off by a long touchdown run to bring the final score to 37-25. Standout Players: ?
