LBMS 8TH GRADE GAME RESULTS VS. RIVER VALLEY
Bronco Red Concludes District Play at River Valley
The 8th Grade Bronco Red Team traveled to Waco on Wednesday, January 21, to face the River Valley Panthers in the final district game of the season. Despite a strong effort through three quarters, the Broncos came up short, falling 27–17.
The game started as a defensive battle, with the Broncos trailing 4–2 after the first quarter. River Valley maintained its edge heading into halftime, as the Broncos went into the break down 10–5. The Red Team showed determination in the third quarter, keeping the game within reach and cutting the deficit to 17–14 by the end of the period.
In the fourth quarter, however, the Panthers pulled away, scoring 13 points to secure the win.
Offensively, the Broncos were led by Gage Wieters and Connor Krueger, who each scored five points. Jeremiah Rivas added three points, while Owen Burress and Tucker Bailey contributed two points apiece.
Defensively, Grayson Bradley, Finn Fowler, and Tucker Bailey stood out with strong performances, helping keep the contest competitive until the final quarter.
With district play complete, the Bronco Red Team now turns its focus to the District Tournament, which will take place next Saturday, January 31, at Midway Middle School. The Broncos will look to build on their experience and finish the season on a strong note.
Bronco Silver Dominates River Valley in District Finale
The 8th Grade Bronco Silver Team traveled to Waco on Wednesday, January 21, and delivered a strong all-around performance against the River Valley Panthers, earning a convincing 50–27 victory in the final district game of the season.
The Broncos came out firing in the opening quarter, jumping out to an 11–7 lead. That momentum carried into the second quarter, where Bronco Silver put together an impressive offensive surge, scoring 19 points and taking a commanding 30–16 lead into halftime.
After the break, the Broncos showed no signs of slowing down. A solid defensive effort paired with efficient scoring allowed them to add 10 more points in the third quarter, extending the lead to 40–20. Bronco Silver remained in control the rest of the way, securing the 50–27 win.
Jeremiah Larkin led all scorers with a standout 20-point performance. Lawson Phillips added 12 points, while Aden Donaldson contributed five. Jaden Onchweri scored four points, Robert Gudgen added three, and Wyatt Bullard, Harrison Fryar, and Daiidrion Glover each chipped in two points.
Defensively, the Broncos were anchored by strong performances from Jeremiah Larkin, Robert Gudgen, Grayson Williams, and Jaden Onchweri, whose efforts helped limit River Valley throughout the game.
With district play now complete, the Broncos turn their attention to the District Tournament, scheduled for next Saturday, January 31, back at Midway Middle School, where they will look to carry this momentum into postseason play.
