LBMS 8TH GRADE BOYS SWEEP TRAVIS
The Lake Belton 8th Grade Red Broncos earned a solid home victory over the Travis Middle School Mustangs on Thursday, January 8th, using strong defense and fast-break scoring to pull away early and hold on late for a 34–25 win.
Lake Belton set the tone in the opening quarter, jumping out to an 11–4 lead behind aggressive defense and disciplined offense. The Broncos continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, capitalizing on fast-break opportunities created by their press defense to add eight more points. At halftime, Lake Belton held a commanding 19–6 advantage.
The Broncos maintained control in the third quarter, matching their first-quarter output with another 11 points to extend the lead. While the Mustangs made a late push in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as Lake Belton closed out the game with poise.
Mason Brown led the Broncos with nine points, while Gage Wieters, Jeremiah Rivas, and Grayson Williams each contributed five points. Jonathan Johnson added four points, and Zaidyn Sanchez, Jaden Onchweri, and Owen Burress each chipped in two points to round out the balanced scoring effort.
Defensively, Grayson Williams, Mason Brown, and Gage Wieters stood out, anchoring a Broncos defense that set the pace from the opening tip.
The Lake Belton 8th Grade Silver Broncos hosted the Travis Middle School Mustangs on Thursday, January 8th, and delivered a strong all-around performance to secure a 58–21 victory.
The Broncos got off to a slow start offensively in the first quarter, scoring eight points as they settled into the game. However, momentum shifted quickly in the second quarter when Lake Belton turned up the defensive pressure. The Broncos outscored the Mustangs 19–9 in the period, heading into halftime with a 27–17 lead.
Lake Belton came out firing in the third quarter, putting together their most productive stretch of the night. The Broncos poured in 20 points, sparked by Jeremiah Larkin, who scored 11 points in the quarter alone. Strong defense limited Travis to just four points, giving Lake Belton a commanding 47–21 lead entering the final period.
The Broncos closed the game with authority in the fourth quarter, holding the Mustangs scoreless while adding 11 more points to the scoreboard. The dominant defensive effort sealed the 58–21 win at home.
Jeremiah Larkin led all scorers with 21 points and was a key presence on both ends of the floor. Aden Donaldson and Lawson Phillips each added eight points, while Robert Gudgen contributed six. Additional scoring came from Muna Ihekoronye (5), Harrison Fryar (4), Daiidrion Glover (2), and Wyatt Bullard (2), showcasing the Broncos’ balanced offensive attack.
Defensively, Larkin, Donaldson, and Phillips stood out, helping anchor a Bronco defense that held Travis to just 21 points and shut them out completely in the fourth quarter.
