LBMS Girls Sweep Travis

LBMS GIRLS SWEEP TRAVIS

The LBMS girls basketball teams traveled to Travis in their first game back from the holiday break and came away with 4 wins. The 7th grade B team opened the night with a win 24-16. They were down 12-13 after the first half, but shut down the Mustang offense in the second half only allowing 3 points to 12 Bronco points. Kelcie Stephenson had a season high 10 points for the Broncos. Addie Wyrick came away with 6 points and several steals. Alana McCoy, Lucy Mahoney, Kendall Truett, and Jeanna Taylor all had 2 points a piece. The 7th grade A team fell behind in the first half 12-25, but came back in the third quarter on fire scoring 21 points to take the lead. The Broncos outscored the Mustangs 29-10 in the second half to win the game 41-35. Sydney Harvey lead the team in scoring with 16 points, 14 of those came in the second half. Laynie Wurts helped control the offense with several assist and scored 9 points. Rounding out the scoring for Lake was Charlie Stawski with 6 points, Anna-Lean Bowers with 4 points, and Campbell Seideman, Willa Nanney, Emma Goodnight with 2 points a piece. 8B came away with a win against the Travis Mustangs 34-7. The team played great defense and hustled up and down the floor. Offensively, the Broncos dominated on the boards which gave us extra shots at the basket. Kassidee Harding scored 12 points to lead all scores for Lake Belton followed by Frankie Sexton with 6 points. This was one the team's best games so far. Great job Broncos! Lake Belton Middle School’s 8th grade girls’ basketball team earned a hard-fought 24–23 victory over Travis Middle School in a tough, physical matchup. Lake fell behind early and trailed for most of the game, but their determination and never-quit attitude showed when it mattered most. The Lady Broncos turned in their best performance in the second half, outscoring Travis 21–9 to complete the comeback. Caitlin Stringer led the offense with 10 points and was named Offensive Player of the Game, while Tessa Williams anchored the defense and earned Defensive Player of the Game honors.
