7A UNDEFEATED DISTRICT CHAMPS
All four teams qualified for the district tournament held at Copperas Cove on Saturday by finishing in the top 8 during the regular season.
The 7th grade A team came away as undefeated District Champs, winning all three games in the tournament. The Broncos beat Copperas Cove 25-7, 25-11, Bonham 25-5 and 25-11, and Belton Middle School 25-13, 25-27, 15-11. It was a great tournament with 4 players being top servers for the day, Sydney Harvey, Emery Seideman, Charlie Stawski, and Meredith Steenson. The A team's final record was 14-0.
The 7th grade B team won their first match of the day against Bonham, but fell in the semifinal match against Belton MS. 7B finished the team with 11-2 overall record.
The 8th grade B team won their first match on the day against Copperas Cove in two sets 25-19 and 25-10. In the semifinal match, Lake faced River Valley and battled all the way to the end. The Panthers took the first set 25-18, but Lake was able to take set 2 25-21. In the third and final set, Lake got out to an early lead, but River Valley bounced back to narrow the lead. Eventually, River Valley would win the set 17-15. Top performers for the tournament were Tessa Williams, Macey Brent, Raquela Siprian, and Kayleigh Finger. The team finished the year with an overall record of 7-6.
The 8th grade A team won their first match on the day defeating North for the third time this season 25-21 and 26-24. Lake took on SC Lee in the semifinal match. A few errors on serving and serve receive led to the Broncos dropping the first set 25-18. The second set was a battle with Lee winning 30-29. The entire A team contributed to the teams success. The A team finished the year with a 9-4 overall record.
