LBMS 8TH GRADE GAME RESULTS VS. BONHAM
Lake 8th Red Wins a Thriller Over Bonham Red, 12–8
In an unforgettable finish, Lake 8th Red defeated Bonham Red 12–8 in their season finale. On the final play of the game, quarterback Jase Ptaszek connected with Daiidrion Glover for a spectacular 65-yard catch and run to secure the win. Earlier in the game, running back Daniel Denham broke loose for a 36-yard touchdown run that set the tone for the offense.
Defensively, Kaden Carter, Aldemar Viveros, Conner Krueger, and Mateo Vela-Rios anchored a tough unit that kept Lake in the game until the end.
It was a thrilling way to close out the season, and the team looks forward to building on this momentum in the offseason and beyond.
The 8th Grade Lake Belton Silver Team battled the Bonham Middle School Bulldogs at Bulldog Field on Tuesday, October 21, but ultimately could not overcome a strong start and late-game surge by Bonham, resulting in a 27-6 district loss.
Bonham immediately set the tone for the evening, taking the opening kickoff and efficiently driving the length of the field to punch in the game's first touchdown, going up 6-0. The Bulldogs’ defense proved equally stout, stopping the Broncos on their first possession. Bonham’s offense quickly capitalized on the field position, using their powerful running game to find the endzone again, extending the lead to 14-0.
The second quarter turned into a defensive slugfest. Both the Broncos and Bulldogs dug in, refusing to allow any scoring, and the game went into halftime with the Bulldogs comfortably ahead, 14-0.
Lake Belton showed significant fight coming out of the locker room. Receiving the second-half kickoff, the Broncos engineered their best drive of the night, culminating in a successful passing play for a touchdown. While the score closed to 14-6, giving Lake Belton momentum, the rest of the third quarter reverted to a defensive struggle, with both offenses stalling out.
The competitive balance held until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. With just 2:04 remaining, Bonham delivered the decisive blow, putting together a key drive featuring a successful string of passes to score a touchdown and push their lead to 20-6. Any hope for a Lake Belton miracle vanished shortly after, as the Bulldogs secured the victory with a defensive gem—a “pick six” that sealed the 27-6 final score.
Despite the outcome, the Broncos saw several players rise to the occasion. On offense, Robert Gudgen and Grayson Williams turned in standout performances, leading the charge on the ground and through the air. On special teams, Jaxson Winner executed a key play that provided the Broncos with a much-needed boost in field position.
The Lake Belton Silver Team will look to bounce back and secure a win next Tuesday, October 28, when they face Cove Middle School. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
