LBMS 7TH GRADE GAME RESULTS VS. BONHAM

Lake Red falls to Bonham, 6–0 The Lake Red Broncos came up just short in a hard-fought defensive battle against Bonham, falling 6–0. Offensively, Lake was led by Camden Garcia, Giovanni Terry, Carver Leigh, Jackson Garza, and Ethan Copeland, who worked together to move the ball and create scoring opportunities. On the defensive side, the Broncos were anchored by Nicholas Casmus, Cooper Jackson, Kellen Maybin, Yeshua Duque, and Brock Maybin, each making key tackles and plays to keep the game close. As the Lake Red team heads into the offseason, the focus will be on improving fundamentals, building strength, and developing consistency on both sides of the ball. The experience gained this season will serve as a foundation for growth and success next year, as the Broncos look to return stronger, more confident, and ready to compete at a higher level. In a thrilling back-and-forth battle under the lights at Bronco Field, the 7th grade Lake Belton Silver Team edged out the Bonham Middle School Bulldogs 33-25 on Monday night. Powered by explosive offensive plays and timely special teams execution, the Broncos improved their record in front of an energetic home crowd. The game kicked off with the Bulldogs receiving but stalling on their opening possession. Lake Belton took over with favorable field position and wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, capitalizing on a screen pass for a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion to go up 8-0. Bonham answered with a strong kick return that set them up at the Bronco 45-yard line. Relying on a steady ground attack, the Bulldogs found the end zone with 3:31 left in the first quarter, trimming the deficit to 8-6. After a costly turnover by Lake Belton’s offense, the Bulldogs threatened again with excellent field position at the Bronco 30. But the Broncos defense stood firm, getting a critical stop to swing momentum back. Lake Belton responded with a long running back screen that set up the offense deep in Bonham territory. A quarterback keeper finished the drive, extending the lead to 14-6. The Bulldogs stayed composed and marched down the field, punching in a touchdown to bring the game within two. The Broncos clung to a narrow 14-12 lead heading into halftime. Opening the second half with possession, Lake Belton drove to the Bulldogs’ 10-yard line but came up short on 4th down. Bonham seized the opportunity, ripping off a long touchdown run to take their first lead of the game at 19-14. The Broncos didn’t flinch. A rapid scoring drive put them back in front, 20-19. But Bonham’s aerial attack struck next, reclaiming the lead with a deep touchdown pass to go up 25-20 late in the third quarter. Refusing to be outdone, Lake Belton fired back with a long touchdown pass to reclaim the advantage, 26-25. Then, in a game-changing moment, Rylan Meeks executed a perfect onside kick, which the Broncos recovered. Capitalizing on the momentum, the offense scored again as the third quarter expired, pushing the lead to 33-25. Another brilliant onside kick recovery by Meeks gave the Broncos possession once more, and with under two minutes left, the Lake Belton offense leaned on the ground game to drain the clock and seal the victory. Key Performers: Offense: Jonathan Dwyer, Jace Moon, and Anders Phillips all made major contributions in the passing and running game. Defense: Kevin Saunders and Gregory Hemm delivered crucial stops throughout the contest. Special Teams: Rylan Meeks was outstanding, successfully executing two onside kicks and converting a key two-point kick. With the win, the Silver Broncos ride a wave of momentum into their next matchup. They’ll host Cove Middle School at home on Monday, October 27th at 6:15 p.m.
