The 7th grade Lake Belton Silver Team delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday night, defeating the Belton Middle School Tigers 32-12 in front of an energetic home crowd. The Broncos set the tone early, opening the game with a balanced offensive attack that ended in a long touchdown pass to take a 6-0 lead. On the Tigers’ first possession, the Bronco defense stepped up with a key interception, giving their offense excellent field position. While the ensuing drive ended in a punt, Lake Belton’s defense wasn’t done yet. With 4:52 remaining in the second quarter, the Broncos recovered a fumble and capitalized two plays later with another long touchdown through the air, extending their lead to 13-0. The momentum stayed with Lake Belton as the defense held strong, allowing the offense to drive downfield once again. A big passing play set up a quarterback keeper for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 20-0. The Tigers responded late in the half with a determined drive, scoring a rushing touchdown with just 45 seconds remaining to make it 20-6. But Lake Belton answered right back. A long pass set up first-and-goal from the 3-yard line, and the Broncos finished the half with another quarterback keeper to take a commanding 26-6 lead into halftime. Lake Belton continued to control the game in the second half, using an effective ground attack to drain the clock. The Broncos found the end zone again with a quick pass to the running back, stretching the lead to 32-6. Although the Tigers mounted one final scoring drive to make it 32-12 early in the fourth quarter, the Broncos’ lead was never in doubt. Final Score: Lake Belton 32, Belton Tigers 12 Offensive standouts included Bowen Williams, Jonathan Dwyer, Jace Moon, and Anders Phillips, who all made key contributions in the air and on the ground. On the defensive side, Lavincent Wren and Zayne Tanner played outstanding games, making crucial plays to keep the Tigers in check.
