Broncos Fall to Cove Lee The Lake Belton Broncos 7th grade Red Team faced a tough challenge this week, falling to Cove Lee by a score of 19–0. Despite the loss, the Broncos showed grit and determination on both sides of the ball. On offense, Lance Calvert provided a spark with several strong runs, while Carver Leigh and Nathan Willman also turned in solid performances to help move the ball. Defensively, the Broncos held their ground against a physical Cove Lee team. Camden Garcia, Klayton Price, Kellen Maybin, Lance Calvert, and Benaiah Hardy all made key stops and led the defensive effort throughout the game. The Lake Belton Bronco 7th grade silver team competed in a physical game against S. C. Lee. The Broncos’ defense started strong with a key stop on 4th down on S.C. Lee’s first possession. The Broncos took advantage of the stop with an impressive drive to put the Broncos up 6-0. The Cougars bounced back with a quick score and extra point to take the lead in the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Broncos gave up a big run which put the Cougars up 13-6. The Broncos started gaining momentum on offense and were in prime position to score. However, some key mistakes on offense led to a failed drive and an opportunity for S.C. Lee to put the game out of reach. The Cougars’ offense took advantage, putting together some impressive string of runs to score another touchdown, extending their lead to 13 points. On the final drive, the Broncos showed perseverance but ultimately came up short on a 4th down attempt. The final score of the game was 19-6. The top performers on the defensive side included Gregory Helm and Zayne Tanner. Jase Moon, Felix Gomez, and Brody Rosenbaum made key plays on offense. The Broncos will look to bounce back when they compete against Lamar at home on Monday, September 15th.
